Everyone at some point has been turned down from a member of the opposite sex. Advertisements are made to attract people by using some sort of an appeal to the readers. Sexual attraction is often times used and can be very enticing for a person of any gender. As you will see throughout my paper advertisers use many things like the setting, different people, the colors of clothes, the color of the background, the color of the letters, the positioning of items, and certain need types of humans. All of those are used to appeal to the audience they are directing their advertisement towards. .
The ad I choose is a two-page ad about an energy fat burner drink. One the first page it is a more upscale bar setting. The T.V. is on in the background. There are shelves of martini glasses, bottles of alcohol, and a few scattered energy drinks. There are two females paying attention to things going on behind the bar. There are two other females facing a male and both females have a disgusted look on their face. The guy has his hand placed on one of the female's shoulders. On the second page it is the same bar. All the people are looking towards the male and the female on which he had his hand placed. The female is tossing her drink on the male. Two new faces appear one a female and the other a male. All the females on the second page are laughing. The male in the background watching doesn't have much of a facial expression at all.
This ad was in a recent edition of Cosmopolitan magazine. Cosmo is written for women between the ages of approximately 18 to 25. In the ad the people look as though they fit that age range which appeals to their intended audience because it is the age they can relate to. Women of this age often go to bars and are often times single therefore it attracts those of this nature. The ad was placed towards the very back of the magazine and is one of the last ads left on the reader's mind.
