Sex and its place on TV

To make this contest more interesting, they decided to make a bet. If Dennis wins, he gets a kiss. Well he won, shockingly, and he ultimately got his kiss.
The date would then resume at a nice Italian restaurant. After some talk on how they would rate themselves in bed and the weirdest place they had ever had sex, they decided to get some body shots. This led to more shots, with the two getting noticeably drunk. Oh, how their family would be so proud. Well from there they decided to go to the hot tub that Blind Date had arranged to extend the fun they were having. While in the hub, they started "making out," with Dennis then asking her to take off her bikini top. She obliged only if he would run around the pool area naked, which he didn't have any problem doing. Well the night ended, not surprisingly, with Ashley going back to Dennis's apartment. Due to everything that went on during this date and the alcohol involved, one can assume that they spent the night together and had sex. .
Well where do I start with this date. It wasn't what you would say a hallmark moment for romance. There is not a point on the date that is shown where any of them engage in any meaningful conversation in getting to know the other person. How does Dennis get away with asking such rude, personal questions? What does this say for Ashley, who should have told him off right there? Historically, the objective of dating was not to find a mate but rather to get to know another and to practice and cultivate relationship skills that would later be required in a permanent marriage relationship. This, though, obviously isn't the case anymore in this day and age. Most of the time with what we see on television, a date is only successful if one "scores" in any way. Why else would a show have offered the couple a hot tub if the date were going well? Is that normal behavior for a first date? The show obviously wants the two to hook up.
