You obviously do not know what is best for yourself, and certainly not for your family." I cannot imagine anyone responding this way, but that is what the government expects of us when they say we can not choose to ingest a plant that god gave us. Of course they do, but in their minds eye the satisfaction of eating the burger outweighs the potential for poor future health. This is known as a persons natural rights, and we all have them. No one has the right to tell you, I, or anyone else what they can or can not do with their own bodies. Once we give up that right, there is no longer a line to be drawn saying what the government can or can not enforce in our homes. .
One way the government has tried to influence people early on is with the D.A.R.E program, a propagandistic class that has spouted lies and scare tactics to thousands of children (including myself) over the past few years. The D.A.R.E program has only made the drug problems worse by lying about the effects, and repercussions of drug use. Seeing the National Honor Society students using marijuana made me realize this. I began to wonder where the people were that I learned about in D.A.R.E. The people that would force me to inhale, and would then beat me up and steal my stuff to feed their powerful weed addiction. All the time advancing to harder and harder substances to abuse. When I finally did find a person that I thought might vaguely fit this example, I realized that they were immoral and cowardly long before they ever could blame a substance for their actions. This meant that I had to discard my preconceived notions of the dishonest, immoral pot smoker, and accept the fact that I have been being lied to since my own D.
