Should A Debt Be Paid?

            
            
             Should reparations be paid for slavery to black people living in America? This question has been debated for over 100 years. A large number of blacks in America believe they should be paid reparations for the slaves who were here centuries ago. Other Americans believe that there is no debt owed. As long as people in our society believe reparations should be paid for slavery to the black people living in America, our cultures will remain divided. It is not necessary for reparations to be paid blacks in America for a number of reasons. .
             One main reason why reparations should not be paid is because there are too many questions that would need to be answered before a law to pay reparations could be passed. There is a large population of "blacks" in America who either themselves came at the end of slavery or have ancestors who came after slavery had ended. America is full of people from all over the world. Most of the slaves who were in America came from Africa. Not all black people living in the United States came from Africa. A law to pay reparations would have to state whether the people who will receive the reparations must be descents of slaves or blacks residing in America. The evidence to prove a person was a descendent of a slave would have to be a document stating so. Most of the evidence that people would use to prove they are a descendant would be unreliable. The people who would receive reparations would have to prove that the way they live now was .
