How To Write An Essay

The essay is one of the things that everyone seems to have to write for school, but it is something that few like to write. For some, the essay seems to come easily and mechanically; but for many, the essay is one of those dreaded assignments that are impossible to deal with. So, in this essay about essays, I will include a few good tips that will help you in the future when writing essays.
When writing an essay, the first thing you should do, if given the choice, is to pick a topic. The topic should not only be one that interests you, but should also be able to fit the allotted word limit. Make sure it is not too broad so that you write too much, nor too narrow so that you write too little. Once you have chosen your topic, you should set out to write an outline of your essay. This outline is important because it will provide the basic structure of your outline. When writing this outline, pick an order in which you wish to write; whether it is chronological, space, or order of importance. Look over your outline once or twice to make sure you didn't forget anything, and to make sure that everything is in the right place. After you have composed and critiqued your outline, it's time to write the rough draft.
The rough draft is often the most tiresome and complained about step of this little system. But it is a good way to perfect your essay. When writing the rough draft, neatness and accessories, such as headings and perhaps titles, are not necessary unless they are directed to be put by the instructor. Although neatness is not vital to the rough draft, one should never make it completely unreadable. This is for two main reasons; the first being that it is the rough draft that you refer to when writing the final draft. Secondly, one of, if not the, main purpose of writing the rough draft is so that you can have it looked over and evaluated by a friend or instructor. Have them look for errors in grammar and spelling, as well as errors in context and solutions to change these errors.
