3 ways to overcome grief


            There are good things that happen in life and there are bad things that happen. Sometimes the bad things are hard to overcome. That is what I"m going to discuss to you in this essay: how to over come sadness. There are three basic steps that will be mentioned, we could make them laugh, lend them an ear and teach them to "forgive and forget". Let's begin with step one.
             The first step is laughter. Using laughter is one simple method that does a lot, to put a smile on our faces. I know that when I"m done, a good laugh would cheer me up in no time. But for some people who grieve over a loved one or someone very significant to them, laughter may not be the best thing to do.
             The second step is to listen. Listen to what they have to say instead of blabbing on and on. When one is gloomy, they do not want to listen to some giving them a bunch of advice or telling them "I told you so- they want to be listened to. When we listen to someone, they feel much better getting all those emotions out. You may gibe out advice once they are done speaking and make sure that they do want advice.
             Last but not least, the third step is to teach them to "forgive and forget". Persuade them to move on with their lives and that life continues no mater what happens. It is a waste of time feeling sad for too long, sadness is a part of life and everyone experiences it at one point or another. Remind them that they are not the only ones sad, and it is certainly not the end of the world. There are many, many more people in a much more saddened state then them. Some may even experience it everyday and they grow unhappy everyday. .
             So the next time someone is feeling sad, remember there are three steps to happiness. Laughter brings joy into our lives and a smile goes a long, long way. Take notice of what they have to say and lend a kind ear to them. Helping one see that they must move on is always a good advice. .
