By having coed sports it gives all people of all ages a chance to just have fun and meet new people and make new friends. But for a more competitive game you can play in a men's or women's league.
YMCA also has many other programs to get involved in. They have a fully equipped fitness center with free weights and nautilus equipment. Since they have both of these it gives all people a chance to workout in a fashion that works best for them. Someone that wants to work on building muscle can use the free weights and people that are just trying to stay in shape or tone their bodies can use the nautilus equipment. This is also good for older people because free weights tend to be difficult for older adults and can even be damaging to their bodies, and with nautilus equipment there is a more controlled motion with less strain on the body and you can do it alone without a spotter. You may also take classes in how to use fitness equipment properly in order to ensure your safety so you do not hurt yourself. Personal trainers are offered by appointment in order to help you develop a plan that best suits your needs, whether that is to lose weight, get in shape, or to tone your body. There are many other programs geared for everyone. Water aerobics classes are held in the Olympic sized pool. Also floor aerobics classes and mind and body enrichment classes like yoga and pilates are offered. These classes are for anyone that would like to attend and all you have to do is show up.
I enjoyed my visit to the YMCA and found all the employees there to be very helpful in answering all my questions. The facility was very clean and organized. During my trip there, Suzan, the woman working at the front desk, took me on a tour of the facility and showed me where everything was and let me get a good look around. It gave me a chance to see everything that they offer. After the tour concluded she gave me a 1 week trial membership and told me that I should come down a couple times and that way I was able to participate in some of the activities.
