Imaginative Journeys

" .
Gonzalo uses first person here, placing him in the throne of his utopia. This is paradoxical as it completely defies his whole reasons for the community. .
"I would with such perfection govern, sir, T"excel the Golden Age." .
With his own words Gonzalo highlights the greedy need for power. .
             .
Gonzalo's Utopia is a lot like the town "Whoville" in "The Grinch". Whoville is a perfect little town, where crime rarely exists and everyone lives in happiness. At the beginning of the film, the Narrator introduces the town.
"There is no place like Whoville around Christmas Day. Every window was covered in decoration, every lamp post was dressed.".
The Narrator uses Repitition, repeating "every". This emphasises that every single "Who" is involved. There is another relationship here, the use of the word no, just like in Gonzalo's Utopia.
Thus, an imaginative journey may allow us to visualise and aid us in dealing with predicaments, it has no real placement in the world of today.
Though Stuart Diver, proves with the imagination survival in the impossible can be done. In 1997 he was trapped for 65 hours by a concrete slab in the Thredbo landslide. He was the sole survivor of this terrible tragedy. But the relevance to the Imaginative journey lays in what this man thought about to keep himself going.
One of those people killed was Stuart's wife Sally, leaving him the sole survivor of the tragedy. Stuart said "In my heart I know it was Sally's will, her resilience of spirit, that gave me the strength I needed to hold out, to hold on, when all logic told me hope had vanished.".
The Grinch may seem to you a lot like a heartless being. But he manages to turn himself around. After stealing the presents and causing mayhem. He hears the singing of the Who's. They"d had a merry christmas after his chaotic attack and he realises that it's more than the presents and lights.
"Maybe, perhaps Christmas means a little bit more than gifts and lights".
