Primitive weaponry

Since the dawn of time, civilizations have needed to feed and protect themselves. Foraging for food was satisfactory for a short time, but as populations grew, technology needed to increase to fulfill the needs of the people. Rodents and fish were fine to eat, however, catching the food was the problem. The human race has always had conflicts within itself. With growing grudges and quarrels, throwing stones at each other wasn't enough. Weapons were satisfactory solutions for both these problems. Primitive Weaponry was extremely important in providing ancient civilizations with food and the ability to protect themselves as well as forming the basis of and paving the way for technological weapons throughout the centuries.
Catching a squirrel is simple; buy a trap at the local sporting goods store or just shoot one with a rifle. People of today take this ability for granted. Imagine trying to catch a squirrel 1000 years ago, with quiet steps and your bare hands being the only avenue of success. This dilemma was faced by primitive peoples, and needed to be addressed right away, for the good of civilization. This long road to easy hunting methods started with sticks sharpened by a stone. Although this idea helped, it wasn't good enough. These sharpened sticks soon evolved into spears, with a jagged stone at the tip. The spear was a simple design that could be constructed with great ease, and used just as simply. The spear was condensed into a wooden shaft about six feet long, and about a quarter inch in diameter. This was one of the first arrows made. To gain a considerable amount of power, a launching mechanism was created. This was a key advancement in weapon technology. This weapon would go on to be called the Atlatl (Knapp, online). Atlatls are what paved the way for the bow and arrow, which is a basic weapon that is still widely used today(Fox, online). .
Even when humans were just discovering fire, there was still hate, greed, and aggression amidst everyone.
