)" Well my question for you is, if a football player was tackled too hard and became unconscious, would you remove tackling? If a young lady was conked on the head by a soaring volleyball, would volleyballs be dismissed? If a girl lost her leg sliding into home plate, would we no longer use bases? No, you would most likely buy them more supplies to prevent this from occurring again! This shows how important proper materials, such as mats are needed for cheerleaders, the first step towards getting us these protection resources is by making cheerleading a sport
In the United States of America we are all supposed to be given equal rights, this is supposed to mean that there should not be a separation of sexes. At Freedom High School cheerleading is only preformed by girls. I feel that this discrimination towards women and long-standing outlook that women cannot play sports is a large reason why we"re still considered to be a club here at Freedom. If these antique views are continued, women will no longer be treated the way we are now, but old patterns will reset and females will only be good for reproduction and cooking. Mia Hamm, Venus Williams, and amazing Nadia Comaneci's outstanding performances and strong endurance confirm that woman are just as good as men, and sexist concepts of girls playing sports are no longer acceptable, true, nor justified. I understand that our school has a girls volleyball team, girls water polo, and softball, which are all given the opportunity be considered sports. However cheerleading is the only sport that does not have a single male associated with it, there is a boy's volleyball team, boy's water polo team and baseball team, but there is not a boys cheerleading squad. Girls today should no longer have to put up with these prejudice feelings, especially at school where they are taught to treat everyone equal. If you still feel that girls cannot play sports, than I think you should take a look at how many trophies our varsity cheerleading squad has been awarded, and compare it with how many games our varsity football team has won!.
