Clean and Sober

Drug and Alcohol abuse can have a very damaging affect of people" lives. When a person is dependent on drugs, they seem to lose touch with reality and often have problems socially and physically. Two perfect examples of how drugs and alcohol have negative affects on people's lives are shown in the movie Clean and Sober.
Daryl P, was a high rolling stock investor whose live takes a turn for the worst after a girl that he picks up at the mall, dies from a cocaine overdose. He was given 90,000 in an escrow account to play with in the stock market. He messes up with it and comes up around 50,000 dollars short. In order to escape all of his problems he decides to check into a drug rehab center to avoid the cops. While in the center he realizes that he is a drug addict and an alcoholic. Before he checks into this center he has an obvious problem with drugs and alcohol but he does not believe that he has a problem. Poynter looks like crap and even his good friend and co-worker will not give him anymore money. While in the center he is always trying to score drugs and that starts to take over his mind. He realizes that he has hit rock bottom when he calls his parents and asks them to let him borrow 50,000 dollars to pay off the account he messed up. When he insists that his parents re-mortgage their house, they hang up and he knows that he is at the lowest point he could possible be at. Daryl ends up losing his job and he is looked at as a monster that killed a girl with drugs. He also has to deal with the death of a girl named Charlie that he meets in the rehab center. Daryl has a soft spot of Charlie and is constantly trying to get with her. She cannot seem to escape her husband who is pulling her down with him. She ends up getting in a car accident and dying which makes Daryl feel like it was his fault.
Charlie is another perfect example of what drugs can do to a person. She was in drug rehab because she had a problem with alcohol and cocaine, just like Daryl.
