            Should the legal drinking age be lowered to 18.
             Alcohol, an addictive drug that is raiding the minds of teens all over the world. Alcohol has permanent effects that damage not only brain cells, but judgment. Teens all over the world are engaging in this worldwide drug, and certain measures must be taken if this act is going to come to a complete stop. Teens can marry at 18 but they can not drink, and many teens feel like they should be able to drink so they go ahead and do it anyway.The legal drinking age is 21 in most states, but is legalized at 18 in a select few. The effects drinking has on your body physically and mentally can be life threatening, and teens should think about this before they engage in this act.
             When one turns 18, he gains many responsibilities , such as being able to marry, but he cannot drink alcohol at the wedding reception because almost every state in the United States has set the legal drinking age at 21 years old. The drinking age has a major impact on the 18-21 year-old crowd because many feel drinking is a right they should have since they are considered adults, " Many Americans feel it is unfair that you can go to war for your country, but you cant have a beer", an issue that faces the national and state governments. The United States passed a law in 1984, to raise the drinking age to 21 and would reduce highway funds for states that didnot change the age. (United States Department of Transportation.) Should the drinking age be lowered to 18 years old, when one is considered an adult, and assumes adult privileges and penalties, or should the drinking age remain at 21 years old, since people are more mature and therefore, can be safe and responsible with alcohol?
