Observations in Germany

The third major difference I noticed was that amazingly, gas is even more expensive over there and that because of this most vehicles are diesels. One problem of this is that when some of the hockey players have received their team vehicles they weren't told that the car/van was a diesel and so when they filled their vehicle with gas it messed up their engines and the car/van had to get fixed.
The fourth and final difference I noticed was that Mercedes Benz were not high class cars' over in Germany, as they are in Canada. There was a Mercedes Benz plant near where we were staying and it not only made cars it also made all of their postal worker vans, semi's, buses, vans and everything else just name it. I asked Mark if everyone in Germany just seemed to better off and if that's why they had such expensive vehicles. He told me that over there Mercedes Benz are considered to be their average joe cars not really fancy ones like here in Canada. He also said that you can get really expensive fancy Mercedes Benz in Germany too but that these ones are much fancier than those in Canada since our "fancy" Mercedes Benz are their average cars and are a lot cheaper in Germany than in Canada.

My Observation on Architecture/Housing in Germany.
I think that the architecture in Germany was beautiful. The buildings all seemed to be in great shape, I don't think I saw one dumpy looking building the whole time we were there. Another thing that I noticed was their cobble streets and their stone and marble walk ways. Marble seems to be very popular in Germany. It is used for walk ways, indoor and outdoor stairs, floors, baseboards, door jams, trim around windows and even on some walls. I also noticed that there isn't really any malls in Germany. Instead of malls all the stores are side by side and you just walk from one to another. None of the stores are in one or two story buildings. Most shops cover the first and sometimes the second story of a building and then the third, fourth and often fifth stories of the building are apartments or the home of the owners of the store.
