Draper is a sad tale about child abuse. When Gerald was a young boy, he was constantly left alone in the house without any supervision. He would not have any food to eat and when it was cold he would be shivering. One day when his mother, Monique left him home alone, he accidentally started a fire and it almost killed him. Luckily he was saved and his mother was arrested for child abandonment. .
Gerald was sent to live with his aunt. Aunt Queen took him in and raised him herself. She showed him love and what it really feels like to be in a family. He quickly adapted to the lifestyle and he loved his aunt very much. After his life finally got back on track, his abusive mother got out of jail. She said she wanted to come and visit her son. Gerald was angry because he remembered the tragic and bad memories of his mother and the house. He didn't want to see her or even go back and live with her. Aunt Queen told Gerald not to worry because if he didn't want to live with her he didn't have to. Later that day, Aunt Queen had a heart attack and passed away. .
Gerald was upset because he loved his aunt so much and felt at home with her. Now he would have to live with his mother whom he hated. He also had to live with his new stepfather, Jordan and sister, Angel. He got along with Angel very well, they had a close bond together. Angel did not look very well, she was pale and seemed so fragile. Soon he found out the reason. When he lived with them, he found out Jordan was very abusive. He would constantly hit and punch Monique, Gerald and Angel. He also found out Jordan was molesting Angel. He was so sick and disgusted by this constant torture and abuse that he called the police. Jordan was sent to jail for five years, and the mother was so sad and heartbroken. Even though Jordan abused her, she still loved him and was so angry that Gerald did that. She yelled at the children and she even went back to her old ways of neglecting and not caring.
