             Child labor in the world today is no better than it ever was. Child labor is being used to make products that people like you and I use daily. Many children will never have the chance to go to school to learn and become something great. "The president of India has urged children to dream great things, but where is the time for children like me to sleep, leave alone dream?" This was said by a young thirteen-year-old boy named Kannan. He works in a silk-weaving industry from dawn to dusk "throughout life" until the loan his parents took is paid back. Kannan is a victim of child labor as are 250 million other children between the ages of 5 and 14 around the world.
             All over the world child labor is used to make products that everyday people like you used. Chocolate it a tasty treat that almost every American has eaten or has tried in their life. Our country alone spends $13 billion each year on chocolate, but what most people don't know is that the money we spend is going to the masters" pockets that practice child labor. Forty-three percent of all cocoa beans are produced in small, poor farms from the West African countries. Children from the ages of 9 to 16 are tricked or sold to work on these farms. .
             Aly Diabate is one of the many forced workers on a 494-acre cocoa bean farm. Aly's day begins by waking up in time for work, which starts at 6 a.m. every day. Throughout the day his job is to cut off pods from the cacao tree. He then has to scoop out the beans inside the pods and spread them out into baskets. As Aly worked the violence that he reserved from the master increased. He would be beaten and beaten until he would do something right. The scorching heat would cause Aly's cuts from all the beatings to sting from the sweat poring from his body. The day of work would stop around 6:30p.m. Aly would make his way home for dinner which consisted of corn paste and bananas everyday.
