Liberty

Liberty is the freedom to do what you want, but there is a limit to almost all freedoms. To most people liberty is a necessity that they can not live without. Although freedom is a necessity there are a lot of people who have freedom that take advantage of or take it for granted. Freedom is not always granted to people especially in some extreme situations. There are good and bad reasons for taking someone's freedom all throughout history.
One example of people not being given freedom is the Holocaust. The Holocaust was the killing of European Jews by the Nazis during World War II. The Nazis took the Jews out of their homes, threw them in concentration camps, and tortured them until they died or escaped and escaping was rare. Another example of people not receiving freedom is the American tragedy of slavery. The southern states of the United States supported slavery during and before the times of the Civil War. People were taken from there homeland in Africa stuffed one on top of the other on a boat and shipped to southern land in the United States. There they were traded, sold, and even treated like cattle then where sent usually to a plantation. They slept, woke, ate, and worked when they were told to do so by there master. They were whipped constantly and were forced to do hard labor such as pick cotton for absolutely no pay at all. Those are key examples where people where not granted there liberty. Some people take advantage of their freedom by committing crimes against society such as taking the life of another human being. When these heinous crimes are committed these people are put in prison or in other words incarcerated from society. They have some basic freedoms but they are confined to the prison and some freedoms are taken from the prisoners. I feel that if people do commit a crime such as murder they should pay their debt to society before they can have their liberty returned to them.
