The requirements for a wife that are listed above are very similar to what a slave is required to do for their masters. Brady describes in detail what the wife does for the husband, but notice how she never describes what the husband does for the wife.
While the women are trying their best to satisfy the men, the men still treat them as slaves in a market. It is the men's decision to see if his wife fits the characteristics he requires. .
