Napolean Bonaparte

It can probably be agreed upon that Napoleon Bonaparte was one of the most powerful rulers ever. It is amazing to look at where he started out in life to where he ended up, and of course what happened in the middle. He has been the closest person ever to uniting Europe but did not quite get that done. Napoleon was a very powerful person, but did he use his power to be a hero, or was he a tyrant? .
Napoleon was an amazing military leader, and that is probably the main reason people would view him as a hero. One of the main reasons he came to power in the first place was because he was a military genius. Early on in his military career he conquered Egypt and of course went on to conquer almost all of Europe. .
Another reason was how he first started to govern France and reform it. Bonaparte was one of the main men who restored peace and order to France after the Revolution. He broke down a lot of the barriers and old laws that exited from the old regime that many people disliked, especially the common people. The people Napoleon found to support him were local people from the lands he conquered. Usually these were commercial and professional men, who were very eager to break down the ideas of the old government. A lot of the common people approved of Napoleon because they wanted change. .
Napoleon took many new steps to establish equality among people. No longer was a man's bloodline good enough for him to get a good job and live a decent life. He made it so that careers were based on what people good do, not what social class they were from. He put a new focus on education and preparing young men for government services. He opened the Institut d"Egypt after conquering Egypt where many great studies took place. They even discovered the Rosetta Stone, which was a main key in learning how to read ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics.
He also took new steps to improve the over all economy of France.
