Compare and contrast

The two stories, "The Way Up" and "Brothers Are The Same" share many similarities. Both stories are about the main character struggling and going through a trial to prove their bravery and skills to the society. The trial in "The Way Up" was about Jamie conquering the "undefeated" water tower. Whereas the for "Brother Are The Same", the trial is defeating a lion. For Temas in "Brothers Are The Same", the trial is inevitable, and everyone knew that he was going to take it. But in "The Way Up", Jamie's decision of climbing the tower was done secretly. His action was done for him to be left as a legend in the school before he graduates. .
Also Temas had his own rival, his brother Medoto. Temas was desperate to conquer the trial because of the jealousy for his brother. The jealousy that the woman he likes is in love with Medoto. But for Jamie in "The Way Up", he doesn't have a certain rival, and he doesn't feel any anger or jealousy for anyone. All he wanted to do was to be popular and honorable. .
Although the little facts of their trial are different, the main idea was to be recognized by people - to be popular in their community. To them, being a celebrity was such a romance and a dream to wish for, since they were always being ignored and set aside by the majority. .
The settings of both stories are very different too. In "Brothers Are The Same", the setting is back before America was colonized by Europeans. And in "The Way Up", the story also takes place in America, but after a few hundred years. But in spite of the great difference of settings, the teenagers of both stories were quite same in the way they thought. .
