The U.S. misrepresented the Philippines on this World Fair in order to gain the public opinion that imperialism and therefore the expansion of the USA is part of their responsibility as one of the "fittest" nations of the world. Not only did they have to help nations like the Philippines but also they have to do so quickly so the adaptation of American traits and social life will result in a profitable way. The way by doing this was to send Christian Missionaries to the Philippines to create a civilisation and to educate them by building schools and Christian churches. However, the U.S. did not consider that the Philippines did have already a civilization, which was based firstly on their own culture and secondly on Spanish occupation before the U.S. came to this territory. These deceptions were trying to present the most natural cultures, which were interpreted as the most uncivilized cultures that were living in the Philippines. This was false, since already more advanced and "civilized" groups existed due to the impact of the Spanish settlers. However, the pure fact that the western civilisation based all cultures on the Darwin Theory was bad enough but o put themselves above cultures that they did not even know or studied to the fullest was a disgrace.
