Effect of Temperature on the Rate of Reaction.

I will make this investigation a fair test, by not altering the amount of Sodium thiosulphate and hydrochloric acid and measuring accurately. I will also ensure that the optimum conditions are provided for the reaction to take place. This involves thoroughly rinsing out the beaker before adding the next solution in order to prevent reaction prior to the experiment. Only the temperature of the reactants is changed. The temperature range is going to be 30 - 80 degrees increasing at every 10 degrees celcius.
             Prediction/ Hypothesis: .
I predict that as the temperature increases by 10 degrees the rate of reaction doubles. This is because at low temperatures the particles reacting do not have that much energy to react. However when substances are heated, they gain kinetic energy and this causes them to move faster and collide more often. As this occurs bonds are broken between particles and new ones are formed. This is because the collisions have more energy and collisions are successful. Therefore the higher the temperature, the faster the cross disappears.

             40`c 7secs 19secs 13secs 0.07s-1.

             80`c 5secs 5secs 5secs 0.2s-1.
             Results:.
Having carried out this investigation, we see that from the results the highest reading was 20`C with the lowest reaction rate of 0.06s-1. The lowest reading was 5secs with the highest reaction rate of 0.2s-1. This clearly shows that the less time the chemical reaction takes to complete the faster the rate of reaction.
             Graphic Results:.
Looking at the graphic presentation of my results, I can notice a distinct trend. I notice that as I increase temperature by 10`C the rate of reaction increases equally well and becomes faster. .
