Eating Disorders

The role models of today's society are slim and built. The average American is over the recommended weight for a person of their size and age. The number of Americans who are overweight (to be obese you need to be weigh 30% more than your recommended weight) has risen since 1994 when the number of obese Americans was 25.9%. Today, 35.2% of all Americans are obese. 99.7% of us are above the recommended weight of people in our age group in Europe. .
These facts lead Americans to wanting to become slim and built quickly. Some of the fastest ways to shed pounds rapidly are to starve your self, become bulimic, or become anorexic. Starving yourself leads to malnutrition and is very painful so most people get discouraged soon. If the malnutrition is not stopped then starving will lead to death. When diagnosed with bulimia you binge (eat a lot) and then purge (get rid of it). First, you would eat food until your stomach hurts. Then horrified at the pounds you might gain from the binge you went you regurgitate what you have eaten. Doing this at every meal brings your stomach acid to your mouth giving you bad teeth and chemical imbalances. When chemicals in your body are imbalanced you become dehydrated quickly. If the binging and purging continue bulimia can lead to death. .
Becoming anorexic mean you are diagnosed with anorexia. Anorexia literally means a lack of appetite for food. Anorexic people feel fat even though they are very thin. They tend to exercise a lot and then skip meals. Starving an then tiring yourself out obviously lead to death. People with anorexia do not realize what they are doing and think that they are perfectly normal.
When people want to build muscle quickly they take steroids or work out in the gym. Working out in the gym takes more time than steroids but, is the better alternative. Steroids include the sterols and bile acids that make your stomach muscles strong. Steroids increase muscles quickly but, make you easily and irrationally angered.
