Parkinson's Online

As we look around the world today we start to notice that everything has gonewww dot com.? You can now find almost anything on the world-wide web from internet retailers to online casinos. One of the biggest uses of the internet, however, is to find information. After surfing the web for a while, it is clear that there is a wealth of knowledge out there. Focusing on the topic of Parkinson's disease (PD) I have found a lot of websites that could be helpful to someone with or around this terrible disease. Information is easily found on almost anything from support groups to learning how to set up a living room to accommodate a Parkinson's patient. The number of web sites on the web that deal with Parkinson's disease make finding facts on the topic quick and easy. .
One website on the topic of PD, maintained by the American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA), is very helpful to people who want to get involved in helping those who suffer from PD. The APDA is an association that forms support groups and runs charity events for victims of PD. The information on this website was last updated on September 14, 2001 which shows that the website is up to date. This site has little information on the disease itself and the information it does give is not cited. It is hard to tell whether the facts and statistics can be trusted but it does not appear that education is the goal of this website. The website is more oriented toward helping people get involved with charities or organizations that benefit people with PD. There are one or two paragraphs on the disease and treatment while the remainder of the website is geared toward involvement. There are ten options to choose from on the main page. The majority have to do with support groups and charities. Some of the options listed are Current Events, Getting involved, Chapter locations, Support Groups, and Young Parkinson's Center. The Young Parkinson's Center is mainly for people below the age of sixty diagnosed with Parkinson's.
