Fight Club


            
             The Fight Club, a novel written by Chuck Palahniuk, is about a guy .
             who suffers from schizophrenia, or split personality disorder. In the start of .
             the book, Jack is a successful business man. He works for a successful firm, and lives in a trendy apartment. But that all goes downhill when Jack meets Tyler Durden on the beach one day. They start a fight club to release everyday stresses they have. Jack has been going to group sessions to help him sleep. He is an insomniac and the only way he can sleep is if he goes to the meetings and cries. When he sleeps Tyler comes out and takes over his body. Jack meets him on the beach when he falls asleep. Tyler is the opposite of him. Tyler is a strong man. People respect him and he gets what he wants from people. Jack is more reserved and shy. .
             The fight club starts when Tyler asks Jack to hit him as hard as he can. Jack finds it a stress reliever to fight Tyler. Fight club begins. The fights are in the bottom of bars and secret basements. No one is allowed to talk about fight club. .
             Jack and Tyler are not two separate men, they share the same body. When Jack is asleep Tyler is in control and gets people to follow him and sets up Project Mayhem. Jack wasn't fighting Tyler the first night fight club started, he was fighting himself. He was fighting everything he hated in the world. Jack really worked three jobs. He had his job and Tyler's two jobs, which is why he was so tired all the time. The house was rented in Tyler's name but with Jack's checks. That is why his checking account was always over drawn. Marla doesn't know the difference at first, Jack always gave false names at the support groups and that is where he meets Marla. Marla knows Jack as Tyler because he was the one who went over to save her. .
