Therefore, Ponyboy is the best character in the book "The Outsiders".
First of all, Pony boy is the best character in the book because he is a Greaser, a member of a gang formed by teenage boys. All the Greasers are friends, they share the same feeling and think the same way about different things. Also, they are willing to help their friends whenever needed. Since they are friends and share the same feelings, they can talk to each other about problems they may have, making it easier for one to get over the problem. Greasers don't have to care what other people think about them unlike the Socs, another gang of teenage boys that's rich who the public is very concerned about. A Soc girl named Cherry Valance said, " It's not money, it's feeling - you (Greasers) don't feel anything and we (Socs) feel too violently." Socs will not have the freedom to do whatever they want like the Greasers because they are expected to be good by the society. This is why, Ponyboy is the best character in the book because he is a Greaser. .
