Charles Darwin


            
             Many people have said that Charles Darwin is the most influential biologist who ever lived. Most of his entire life he was fascinated by all kinds of sciences, most of all the study of living things. Darwin is known for his theory of evolution by natural selection. This theory has been much talked about since it's first publication all the way until now. .
             Charles Darwin was born on February 12, 1809, in Shrewsbury, England. His father Robert Waring Darwin and his grandfather Erasmus Darwin were both very successful doctors. They had their own medical practices. Charles" mother Susannah Darwin died when he was 8 years old. He was young then and didn't have many memories of his mother, though when she died it affected him very much. Charles had one older brother, 3 older sisters, and 1 younger one. After Charles had much education he decided to take a trip around the world to study many things. Once he returned from this trip he married Emma Wedgewood when he was 30 years old. They had 10 children together. Soon after the voyage Charles became very ill with a sickness that bothered him throughout most of his adult life. He published many scientific documents and books. One of his most popular works was " The Origin of Species". Darwin worked, doing much research and writing up until he was 73 years old and started having heart problems. He died on April 19, 1882, of a heart attack when he was 74 years old. .
             Charles had been home schooled by his mother until she died when he was 8 years old, then his sister Caroline taught him for another year. He attended a day school taught by Reverend G. Case where he studied for almost a year. When Charles was 9 years old he enrolled in Dr.Butler's school in Shrewsbury. He studied here for the next 7 years. Butler's school taught only geography and history, Charles didn't find these subjects very interesting. Darwin read many books during his extra time.
