Influences on Darwin


            There are several important influences that led Charles Darwin to his formulation of the Natural selection theory. His family was an influence on him, his famous trip that he took on the HMS Beagle, and his studies of other evolutionists. He also, of course, studied evidence. All of these things combined led him to the creation of his Natural Selection theory.
             Charles Darwin's grandfather was a prominent English medical doctor. He was known as Erasmus Darwin. Erasmus's most famous publication was the book Zoonomia. The book proposed that the origin of life was spontaneous and, that plants and animals gradually evolved into more complex ones. .
             ` Charles Darwin went on the voyage of the HMS Beagle because one of his professors recommended that he do it. During the voyage he was able to study a wide variety of plants and animals. Aside from plants and animals he was also able to study different types of ecosystems. This voyage allowed him to become interested in the study of the world around him.
             Another thing that Charles Darwin studied was famous evolutionist. There were many other evolutiontionist before Darwin's time. A couple of the famous scientists that Darwin studied were Hutton and Lyell, and a man named Malthus.
             All of the elements described above are what led Darwin to his formulation of the evolution theory. If only one of the elements that led Darwin to his theory were to be taken away, one can only speculate as to whether his theory would have been born or not. But thanks to all of Darwin's life experiences, and his studies, he created a theory that still accepted by scientist today. .
