             From the time period of 1861 to 1914 various class's of Russian's perceived the condition of the Russian peasantry differently. Various Russians proposed different ways to change the conditions. Between 1861 and 1866 the Russian peasantry was released by the Monarchy. Land was granted to peasants in communes and dispersed among the families. As the population increased over the years the amount of land that the peasants got decreased, this causing a series of famines.
             During the years of 1861 and 1914 most of the Russian society was for helping the Russian peasantry and felt it was wrong how they were being treated, but there's always going to be the one's who feel there's nothing wrong with what's going on. As stated in document 2 some of the serf owners who choose the best land for themselves leaving the poor peasants with the worst lands. They would designate the land that was unfertile and had the smallest amount of hayland. This is just a small portion of how the peasants were being mistreated.
             Not only were the peasants being treated poorly there were numerous famines sweeping across Russian between 1861 and 1914. Document 5 states that the Russian government reported a famine in 1891. The absence of grain in a good portion of Russia due to a crop failure of the winter and the spring led to putting a large part of the Russian population into an extremely difficult situation. The peasant economy had come to a full collapse and took many years to recover with a good harvest. One third of the Russian peasantry was dying of diphtheria, typhus, and hunger, while sacks of grain and cattle were making their way to feed the wealthy. Among all this the peasants land was left fallow and the peasants wanted nothing more then to have land to cultivate. .
             The Russian peasants were also uneducated and desired education for their children. As stated in document 7 the Russian peasants wanted nothing more then for their children to get educated, they felt that the only way they could escape the slavery they themselves endured was to get their children educated.
