Abraham Lincoln - Research paper


In 1834 Honest Abe started his political career and he was elected for the Illinois legislator, he joined the unpopular Whig party, the people realized that he was considered with in the politics of the county and the state which got him reelected again for the whole eight years, later he joined the Republican Party. Abraham the was an ambitious and self-educated man know the meaning of success and he thought that was not enough so he studied law and became a lawyer by 1836.
             Success was Abraham's objective, in 1939 he got married to Mary Todd and they had them four sons and bought their first house. In august of 1846 Abraham was elected congressman in the national House of Representatives and he was known as the only Whig member of his state.
             In the year 1858, the Illinois Republican party nominated Lincoln to run for the senate against the democratic Stephen Douglas, Abraham gave his acceptance speech and opposed slavery and people noticed that he was antislavery; here are two of my favorite quotes of Abraham Lincoln, which I revere.
             "As I would not be a slave, so I would not be a master. This expresses my idea of democracy. Whatever differs from this, to the extent of the difference, is no democracy" .

             In the year 1858 Lincoln gave his most distinguished speech "House Divided" speech whish indicated several points, but what mostly important is stopping the importance of slaves from Africa, and holding slaves in free states automatically sets them free.
             "All men where created equal" from the Constitution was Abraham's useful and Convincing weapon that he used to debate with.
             Lincoln's great skill and wisdom in his debate with Stephen Douglas turned the eyes of the whole country upon him; and the force and logic of his Cooper Institute speech convinced every one that in him they had discovered a new national leader.
