Romanticism


            
             What is Romanticism? Romanticism is an artistic and intellectual movement that originated in Europe in the late 18th century. It might best be described as anti-Classicism. It characterized many works of literature, painting, music, architecture, criticism, and historiography in Western civilization from the late 18th to the mid-19th century. Romanticism stressed, emphasized and characterized human emotion and thoughts. Romanticism emerged from the Industrial Revolution.
             Romanticism was also used to rebel because the creation of smog, the abuse of workers, and the cutting down of trees caused by the Industrial Revolution. It flowered mainly as a movement of protest. The Industrial Revolution was a big influence on Romanticism. It mainly caused the evolution of Romanticism. It was the influence which led to the ideas of nature and life.
             Romanticism was an outgrowth of the 18th century Neoclassicism. It was used as a powerful expression of desire for personal freedom and radical reform. The use of nature was used to represent religious ideas and to get closer to God. It used nature to get back to the belief of goodness in humanity. Romanticism's use of nature was a way for people to get away from the world and to just turn to the good of nature for comfort. .
             Romanticism stressed strong emotion, imagination, freedom from classical forms, and rebellion against social conventions. It also emphasized the individual, the subjective, the irrational, the imaginative, the personal, the spontaneous, the emotional, the visionary, and the transcendental. It was a way to also express ones self as an individual. Romanticism has had a huge impact as a whole. Among the many characteristics attitudes of Romanticism it has greatly deepened the appreciation of the beauty of nature. .
             Romantcism gave others a reason to write. During the time of the Industrial Revolution, Romanticism became a way to rebel or get away and turn to the greatness of nature.
