Denominations are major religious groups that have established themselves as acceptable to a society and have become a part of its civil religion. Sects are smaller denominations, they are considered to be a pure form of a religion. Cults, on the other hand, are a form of a new religion. Cults form an intentional community. They usually are perceived as a negative part of society. Cults are characterized and stereotyped as deviant and dangerous. The ISOT is a new religious movement that formed on the central coast of California. The ISOT is a traveling ministry that identifies themselves as God's apostles. Members of the groups share the dame general religious beliefs and values.
Similarities of Culture Groups.
African Americans and American Indians share certain historical experiences. African Americans and American Indians has always been a vital aspect to American Society. Both groups have faced discrimination, slavery, and labeling. Stereotyping has become the most discussed issue in the United States. African Americans are labeled as being criminals, lazy and uneducated. While the American Indians are labeled as being alcoholics. Both groups were forced to assimilate and become part of America, losing most of their cultural identity. These cultural groups were expected to forget about their culture, beliefs, and values. Religion has played a very vital role in the development of the homosexual community and the New Religious culture. The motivation of both groups was established to provide spiritual and religious needs for their followers. This newly established religion was used to confirm their particular set of beliefs.
