Women: More than a thing?

They don't realize that looks aren't all that matter in the world. Love, kindness, self-worth, and original personalities are all very important things that women in general have devalued. Many effects have resulted from this. Women of all ages and walks of life are driven to have low self esteems which in turn lead to depression or in some cases suicide. As Gloria Steinem puts it:.
Then there is the female guilt trip, student edition. If we"re not .
sailing along as planned, it must be our fault. If our mothers.
didn't "do anything" with their educations, it must have been .
their fault. If we can't study as hard as we think we must .
(because women still have to be better prepared than men),.
and have substantial personal sexual life at the same time.
(because women are supposed to care more about relationships.
than men do), then we feel inadequate, as if each of us were .
individually at fault for a problem that is actually culture-wide.
             (Steinem, 148).
Why do women always have to feel bad about some aspect of their life? It is because the media and advertising industry has made them believe they have to be a certain way to be accepted. Many women face eating disorders as well. After seeing so many supermodels flaunt their tiny, boney and unrealistic bodies all over advertisements who wouldn't feel fat. The Pepe Jeans advertisement shows this point clearly. Both women are extremely thin and both are showing their bodies off in a very vulnerable and seductive manner. These types of advertisements lead women to believe they are not good enough and never will be. They start thinking they don't deserve for people to treat them good. This leads me to my next point on how the use of women in advertisements has lead men to lose respect for women's bodies.
Men constantly see these vulnerable, sexual women in advertisements, and for some reason, it makes them feel they have some power over women.
