            Compare the ways in which poets have used different forms to express a variety of ideas about love.
             These love poems were all written by men and women expressing a variety of their ideal towards love. The poems are "The beggar woman", "To his coy mistress", "My last duchess", "How do I love thee?" and "Remember". These poets described love in various ways in connection with men and women. In the "The beggar woman" and "To his coy mistress" the poets have similar expression of the variety of perspectives on love by illustrating similar attitudes shown by the man towards the woman. "My Last Duchess" is about a Duke and his last wife's relationship. The women wrote "Remember" and "how do I love thee" .
             The poets clarify different attitudes. Marvell shows the attitude of men towards women in "To his coy mistress" as romantic and physical. In the beginning of their relationship his tenderness to the woman was spiritual and physical. He says "I would love you ten years before the flood, and you should, if you please, refuse till the conversion of the Jews". This suggests his love is spiritual because before the flood is the Noah's time while the conversion of the Jews is when the Jewish will convert to Christians. However, the poet structures the poem to show the change in the man's attitude; he started from when the man was more loving and patient to when he started losing his temper. The man couldn't carry out his intention of being romantic and tender to the woman because his real intention is to sleep with her. He loses his patience and becomes quite rude to the woman. He says "That worms shall try that long preserved virginity." This suggests that worms will eat her up when she is dead and her long preserved virginity will then be worthless. This is really rude by reminding her that worms will eat her body after death. Although, the woman's attitude toward the man was not mentioned, he suggests that she was interested but still holds out.
