             " Hate Crimes Today: An age old foe in modern dress. Hate crimes are defined as violent acts against people, property, or organizations because of the group to which they belong or identify themselves with. Crimes of this sort are committed daily in communities across the country. Because, of minuet differences weather these differences be real or perceived to be real. Young people usually commit this type of crime for various reasons that usually have a background of antisocial behavior. The number of crimes of this sort committed each year is appalling. Racism is the seed of hate crimes. .
             In most cases the target is at people of different ethnicity or national origin, as well as, people of different sexual orientation. Which isn't classified as the socially accepted norm, such as homosexuals. In some cases people with disabilities are the target. This sort of crime usually occurs because a certain group of people sees the victims as a threat to the mainstream population. Making the assailants fearful of losing jobs, as well as giving into the belief that life, as they know it is forever ruined. (Altman).
             In most instances young adults with a history of antisocial behavior commit hate crimes. Assaulters of these crimes are placed in one of more of the four categories as to why they committed the crime. Ideology assailants, report that their crimes stem for the negative belief and attitude that they perceive about that group. Thrill seekers; commit the crime to relief boredom, to have fun, and to feel strong. Peer dynamics; commit the assault to prove how tough they are to their peers along with proving their heterosexuality. Self-defense, is the group that honestly belief that homosexuals are sexual predators. (Siasoco 3).
             The statistics for hate crimes are relatively new. Since, legislators enacted the Hate Crimes Statistics Act in 1991.
