            The movie Chicago is a melodramatic film that incorporates both the use of dance, and different genres of music to help tell the story of two murderous females and their scandalous desire for the attention of the world. This astounding musical is not only filled with singing and dancing, but it has an entertaining storyline as well. Throughout this compelling and exciting motion picture several songs are performed to enhance each scene in a different way. Songs such as "All that Jazz", "When You"re Good to Mama, Mama's Good to You", and "They had it Coming" are all up tempo and uplifting tunes that give the viewer a better understanding of what the scene is about. Other songs such as "We Want Billy" and "I Can do it Alone" show the inmate's desperate cry for help and attention. Each song provides a different mood and atmosphere for the events that occur throughout the movie. .
             Velma Kelley, the sensational nightclub performer, and Roxie Hart, the ordinary woman with dreams of only becoming America's next sweetheart take drastic measures to win over the spotlight. When both women become incarcerated as a result of committing murder they use this to become America's next best thing. Velma Kelley who is being represented by big time lawyer Billy Flynn becomes furious when he takes on the case of Roxie Hart. As Velma slowly fades away from the spotlight Roxie Hart suddenly becomes the center of attention. Billy Flynn's use of fabrication, lies, and deceit make Roxie Hart the most famous celebrity of the times. As the musical continues both women are eventually found not guilty of murder, and they put their hatred for one another behind them to come together as an electrifying duo. Chicago is indeed enjoyable from beginning to end. The variety of musical and dance numbers enhances each scene and keeps the viewer waiting to see what would happen next. .
