The Father


             The movie examines the controversial life of a priest and a nun. The story resolves around the two main characters Father Patrick Fitzgerald and Sister Mary Hays. The action starts off in one of few markets in the village of Limerick Ireland. Patrick Fitzgerlad is slowly taking over his dad's job as head butcher of his market. This is a huge problem for Patrick as he becomes a vegan.The fact of being surrounded by dead animals goes against everything he stands for and it makes him sick to his stomach. Patrick finally to the point of desperation finally stands up to his overbearing abusive dad leaves home at 18 and becomes what he always wanted to be and that is a priest. Patrick is ever so happy with his life as a priest and as it seems life can't any better than this, the main twist or (plot point occurs) when several priest of the Limerick Catholic Church go to a local food drive to try to help out the poor. Father Patrick Fitzgerald meets a nun named Marry. They start talking for awhile and after the food drive is over; the two secretly exchange addresses. They start writing letters to each other and meet every month at a local charity. They eventually fall in love. The two must make a decision that will forever change the rest of their lives. After they try to explore and protest there new believes of open marriage and allow to continue becoming Priest and a Nun, the head priest of Limerick forbids it and not only condemns this lifestyle but tells both of them they could never practice in Limerick again. Both in love with each other and with what they do, they must make a choice stay together or leave to another town separately to resume their holy life or think about suicide. Slowly but surely, both of them not braking the Ten Commandments but braking several rules of the church ponder in what will be there next move.
             The movie deals with is it wrong for priest and nuns to experience love? Are principles and pride just rituals that take over us and control are lives for the better or worse? .
