Spoiling our children

We are afraid of spoiling our children. Many times, this fear is rooted in the wrong belief that showing our love for them will make them conceited. This notion is extrapolated to the invalid conclusion that expressions of love and affection spoil our children. On the contrary, the following view seems to be correct: children willingly accept limits, exhibit caring and assume responsibility when parents show that they love and respect them. On the other hand, when they sense that their parents do not love them, they tend to block parental input and behave negatively. Thus, more problems arise when parents work on controlling their children instead of loving them.
Children serve as the joy of every family. Through them, the parents work hard in order to meet their needs and in order to give them a high quality education, and a clean living. But children need the affection of love and care that parents should give. Parents must devote extra time and should give attention for them to guide the children as they grow up. Parents must not only give their physiological needs but also their emotional needs. .
Some parents tend to dictate them and control them because parents believe that these will discipline their children. But a child needs to be secured and loved. He learns to follow and respect his parent when he is being loved. Children must be given attention for him or her to love his parents in return. .
As parents of this globalized world, we should devote time to our children, love them and give care and affection with all our hearts not making discipline by controlling them or dictating them. This will make our children responsible, kind, caring and loving but not self-centered and narcissistic children.
