I think reality is things that you can physically touch, see, hear, taste, and smell. Well maybe not taste or smell, but you catch my drift. But, after reading about reality in Chapter 1, I'm reconsidering my opinion. Reality is based upon the person's beliefs and values. When people used the cliché "snap out of it came back to reality" (or something like that), their talking about there reality, not the person. The person maybe seeing reality in a whole different perspective.
Reality as the book nicely puts it says that it is all in your head. If you believe in aliens or government conspiracies that is what you believe in, so that's your reality. As I said before reality to me is like the five senses. However, those are not the only things that influenced what I think reality is. For example, some people think that man walking on the moon is a host. Maybe or maybe not, but I saw the facts and read about it so it's real to me. In the book it shows pictures of things that you have to determine what it is. At first it was mind boggling, because it looks one way but if you really focus your eyes you would see it in another way. It feels like you eyes are playing tricks on you.
Like the professor said in class we see what we want to see. Like one might say that the glass is half empty, but to another it is half full. After hearing that I think people need to look at things more carefully before jumping to conclusions. Morels and beliefs is not the only thing that influenced reality. You could have been in a traumatic experience and that change your way of thinking. When you see someone who is always hallucinating they think that whatever there seeing is real. So you really can judge them. Reality is basically up to the person, and who am I to tell one about reality. Like the book says "It is all in your head".
