New Age In America

There is an increasing amount of New Age Religions in America. This is what I did my report on. Some include the following: psychics, yoga, Universal Oneness United, different types of fringes, magic, etc. .
An online dictionary's definition of a lunatic fringe is: "The fanatical, extremist, or irrational members of a society or group." People who study many sciences, lunatic fringes, beliefs and religions are commonly known as fringe watchers.
New Age is said to expand one's consciousness and is the unique opportunity to grow personally. The growth is accelerated and helped by spirit. When some people think of New Age, they think of acceptance. New Age is not an isolated phenomenon. New Age believers say that psychics are not evil, but good and, are here to help people through their life's journey.
New Age began to be exposed in the 1960s. It became increasingly popular, especially in America, as a form of self-expression. New Age is a combination of many different beliefs such as the Chakras of Hinduism, the Chinese Tao, etc. The New Age belief is that one must go through the transformation process in order to "awaken", and that the awakening of the inner self is the goal of human life. They also believe that every existent being - from atom to ant, or even earth to galaxy - is rooted into the same universal, life creating reality.
Despite what others say, followers of the psychic powers believe that psychics do not practice "black magic." What do the psychics themselves believe? They believe that everyone has psychic abilities and just has to do some soul searching to tap into them. To these people, their intuition, as well as other's, is the most important quality and life skill one can have.
