After many deaths in this book, Bilbo arrives back home. .
Tone.
The teller of this tale uses a tone which is casual in ways as it is not spoken as a serious story, as many jokes, humour and amusing mind-picturing scenes are incorporated. I found that the narrator's tone, when accompanied by a mysterious or perilous scene, tended to be formulated in a dark description which, could be easily compared when reading a joyful or peaceful scene which is described in a casual, normal or even a serene tone. .
Description.
Description plays an immense role in getting the most satisfaction out of this, rather difficult at sometimes, tale. Since there are many characters and scenes, a description on every detail is needed to grab a rich idea of what's actually happening. For example, on (pg. 201), Bilbo the main character, stood under an overhanging arched cave on the side of a mountain, when a secret door emerged, "At that very moment he heard a sharp crack behind him. There on the grey stone in the grass was an enormous thrush, nearly coal black, its pale yellow breast freckled with darks spots. Crack! It had caught a snail and was knocking in on the stone. Crack! Crack. this scene easily pictured because it is descriptive as so are the paragraphs before it, which is needed to obtain the required "mind visual graphics". I rather like the way Tolkien describes his characters. He describes them not only by visuals, and feeling, but the way he contradicted descriptions such as visual and feelings of individual characters. For example, the book is set around Bilbo's point of view, which means the narrator not only relates Bilbo's thoughts and feelings but also comments on them. .
Poetry.
The Hobbit, is a story which is set back in a "forgotten" ancient time of, war, multiple races (mortal and immortal), superb geography and powerful kingdoms. Due to the racial differences and the time scheme, poems in this novel were used to tell magnificent stories which were spoken of peace, grievance, danger, history, victories, friendship, wars and some, for no reason but a bit of fun.
