Poverty

Everyone has probably heard that the poverty rate is going down in the United States. This obviously is a good thing and that we are doing things right to get people out of poverty. However, we cannot consider it a success until every single person is out of poverty. There are still over thirty-one million people in the United States. While people try to figure a way to decrease these numbers I think we first need to look at the cause of the problem and the effects thereof so we can get a further understanding about what we can do to bring them out of poverty. .
First, there are numerous causes of poverty, not just one. That said the lack of jobs is one of the greatest single causes of poverty in this country. Popular thought might lead someone to think there are enough jobs to go around, since we see young people attain jobs all the time. Most of these jobs are lousy and ill paid. Most of people who are found in poverty do have jobs, just not ones that will push them through the poverty threshold. The jobs that will bring them out of poverty are already taken and are not enough to go around. .
Another cause of poverty is the lack of education and skills of the lower class individuals. The jobs that are available to them are often skill-required jobs. Since most of the people in poverty do not have the skills or education necessary for these jobs they simply cannot attain the jobs needed for their financial well-being. In order for these people to attain the skills they need they would have to spend money they don't have and go back to school. While this is possible through financial aid, student loans, and so forth most will not go through the trouble of doing this. .
Many people who fall into poverty have nothing to do with skills or having available jobs out there. Many are actually unable to work. People in society sometimes find themselves out of work, because there health doesn't allow them to go to work.
