My Life: Somewhat Ordinary

My scalp was raw and blackish red. Little flesh remained on top of my blistering, gruesome head. That is when I had a breakdown and balled.
             I really don't know how long I was crying when the ambulance showed up. A paramedic named Tim helped me up and out of my house. He was surprised that my face wasn't burnt by the looks of my head. I passed out in the ambulance from the sight of the IV. I awakened the next day to the sound of my brother.
             "Alka Are you there? Don't worry, I am here for you" My eyes felt like they had been frozen shut for days when I finally opened them.
             "Dan?" I asked, "is that you?".
             "Yes, it is me. You have been through a lot haven't you?".
             "You couldn't imagine." I replied smartly. As I was talking to him, I felt the tight bandage on my head. That is when the question entered my mind.
             "Hey Dan, is my head alright?".
             "The doctor said that, well, you probably won't have hair.".
             "What?".
             "He said that you would be bald." My life wasn't the same from that point on. I don't remember what I said or did that day after he said that. I guess I was in shock.
             I was in the hospital for 6 days. I returned home to find the house back as it was before the incident happened. There were neither candles nor dirty dishwater. The furniture was back in its original place and there were no signs of fire on our wooden floor. I went up into my room to rest. I climbed the narrow stairs, which led to my safehaven. I entered my room and fell onto my bed. I pulled the covers up to my shoulders and proceeded to go to sleep. The moment before I closed my eyes I saw all of my hair products on my vanity. A single tear fell from my eye. I told myself not to think about it and go to bed.
             Now we enter 2 years later, which just happens to be the new millenium. My vanity has changed quite a bit compared to what it looked like before the accident. It now lacks hairspray and hair ties but instead it has plastic heads with wigs placed on top of them.
