It is perfectly legal. It is habit, which leads me to my next .
topic.
Eventhough marijuana has repeatedly been clinically proven to not be addicting .
,there is still some reason that habitual marijuana smoking occurs. This has been so .
since the earliest recorded time in Asia. Marijuana was first used for its textile .
qualities, such as rope, twine, and clothing. The bud of the plant was not even .
regarded as important or worthwhile. The hemp of the plant was used as a textile such .
as palm leaves. Once the bud was discovered as a psychoactive stimulant, it became .
the focus of the plant. The rest of the plant was not percieved as it used to be. The bud .
was now the focus, this is where the habit started. .
There is also the world of the occasional user. To these people it is a hidden .
secret. A known crime, this makes it even more entising. The habit is still .
there. It is a covered up hobby, something that the user does solely on the .
remembrance of the previous times, if any. Whether habitual or occasional, the habit .

is formed, not by addiction but rather by preference for the altered state. .
Even though marijuana is technically not as bad for the user as tobacco, there are .
some long and short term effects. The long term effects include loss of short term .
memory, loss of some long term memory, depleated lung capacity, short-windedness, .
and lung and heart disease. Some short term effects of marijuana include loss of short .
term memory, increased appetite, slow reaction time, loss of hand eye coordination, .
and impaired vision due to dryness. This once again also brings up the point of .
addiction. There are studies conducted at schools such as Harvard, Yale, Princeton, .
and by the government that show that marijuana has no long term effect of addiction .
in humans. It is free will that compels people to partake in this illegal but obviously .
