-On Saturday afternoon Frankie asks Berenice about the impression she made during Jarvis and Janice's visit. Berenice replies that she had done nothing while they were visiting.              -Part Two; Section 1:.
(The narrator changes the main character's name from Frankie to F. Jasmine to symbolize a new beginning. The name Frankie is only used in conjunction with the word old to reference the main character's old life. F. Jasmine feels as if she fits with her town unlike the old Frankie. She also seems more mature and confident.).
-When F. Jasmine wakes up, she tells her father about her wedding plans and that she needs to buy a dress. He gives her permission to charge it without much thought, but he ignores the claim that she won't return after the wedding. Perhaps she wanted him to recognize her change from the old Frankie to F. Jasmine, but he doesn't and scolds her for not returning some of his tools after she borrowed them.
-F. Jasmine leaves her home and walks around in search of people to tell about her plans about the wedding and she feels an unexplainable connection to the people she sees. She goes into a cafe called the Blue Moon for the first time without hesitation, defying a rule that had kept the old Frankie out. She tells the bartender about her plans and while leaving sees the redheaded soldier for the first time.
-After exiting the café she divides her life into the ghost of old Frankie, the present day F. Jasmine, and her future plans that are "constant as the very sky."" She stops by her father's store and he tells her that Uncle Charles has died. She tries to reply in a very mature fashion but her father doesn't seem to notice.
-She turns a corner and sees the redheaded soldier arguing to buy the monkey from the monkey man. After the monkey is frightened and runs up to F.
