Affirmative action has always had its share of supporters and critics. Some people feel that America is doing the best that it can in making all races equal. On the other hand people still feel that the country is bias and makes a lot of decisions based on race or gender.
I feel that America has made a lot of progress in the past few years in making all races feel accepted. For some reason though, not everyone is happy with affirmative action. There are still a lot of people out their living in the past. They feel that just because they are of a different nationality that they are automatically discriminated against. For example, since September 11th every person from an Arabic background is thought of as a terrorist. We know this isn't true but all the men who flew their planes into the towers was Arabian so we get this uneasy feeling when we see an Arabic person walking down the street.
There are still a few problems with affirmative action but the government is doing its best to fix those flaws. It will probably never be to every ones liking but you can't please everyone. You will always have people that will complain about something. There will always be that one person that was caught breaking the law who will plead his innocence and say that everyone is just discriminating against his race. The day that everyone in the world is happy and gets along will be the day that the world ends and everyone is lying peacefully in their graves.
