Drug Usage

            Can you believe that a mainstream drug such as marijuana is actually being considered to be legalized? Teenagers smoke marijuana because of peer pressure, depression or for the simple fact just to get high. Teenagers always start using marijuana without even thinking about the consequences that this drug will have on their lives. That is why I say that marijuana should be legalized only for medicinal purposes and I propose that there should be a contract that the doctor has to sign in order to prescribe the product. We all know that teenagers cannot "purchase" a packet of cigarettes or blunts until they are 18 years of age but no one is stupid and we know that kids smoke as long as they get their hands on it whether it be illegal or not. .
             The main reason why I believe people mainly teenagers use marijuana is because of peer pressure. Teenagers see all of their friends doing it and they are around them when their freinds are smoking so they just give in. Once they take the first pull they are hooked because "they say they are". They sometimes get to the point where they need a fix almost everyday and then they find themselves becoming junkies. When this happens they start to lash out at family members and friends because all they want to do is get a fix. They start getting in trouble with the law an various drug dealers and before they know it their life is going down the drain.
             Other teens start using drugs because of depression. They could have problems at home like for example their parents may be getting ready to separate amongst other situations. The teen often thinks it is his or her fault about everything that went wrong and they turn to "Mary Jane" to take away the pain. They start smoking a little bit and then all of the sudden they realize that marijuana takes all of the pain away, so little by little they take more and more. When the parents find out, it is to late and their son or daughter is constantly smoking weed.
