Gilgamesh

This story of Gilgamesh is a perfect example of how power when given to someone, can overtake and corrupt an individual. Gilgamesh was a king and a product of a mortal man and an immortal goddess. His destiny was to someday die like his mortal father but he had immortal like strength given to him for his rule as a king in Uruk. .
Though his destiny was to someday die like all of us humans he did not see that. The fact that he was a king and was given some godly powers, led him to the illusion of him being higher than everyone else and that he would live forever. This also led him to be very cruel to his people only to please himself, and reassure himself of that power. Gilgamesh was taken over by evil through the power he was given. .
He was extremely evil towards his people. " his arrogance has no bounds by day or night. No son is left with his father, for Gilgamesh takes them all, even the children His lust leaves no virgin to her lover, neither the warrior's daughter nor the wife of the noble (Gilgamesh,pg13)." Here shows that he is taking all men children or seniors away from their family to work as soldiers. As well as that he takes the women and has sex with them all for his own pleasure, taking what was supposed to be left for her husband. These are truly horrendous acts of a selfish and evil ruler.
He then comes in contact with what the gods made as half man half animal but was supposed to be equal with Gilgamesh and stop him from his evil ways in Uruk. Aruru the goddess of creation, created this animal slash man named Enkidu. Gilgamesh then fought with Enkidu as was planned by the gods to stop him from his evil ways. Though it did not go exactly as plan as Gilgamesh ultimately won. "Gilgamesh bent his knee with his foot planted on the ground and with a turn Enkidu was thrown. Then immediately his fury died (Gilgamesh,pg16-17)." .
Then after this Enkidu realizes he has been beaten and shows respect to Gilgamesh.
