Before even starting at the center, the parents of the child should make sure they like and are at ease with the person taking care of their child. The way the staff interacts with the child, their manners and the appearance of the staff member can help parents decide where they want their child to go (Manczak yourself). When the caregiver cuddles, hugs, and enjoys the baby as much as the parent does, it makes the child feel loved. Listening and the playing with the children not only helps the children relax and have fun but it also establishes and maintains limits (Manczak staff). While it is good to have the child be well acquainted with the caregiver, the parents should be too. Once or twice a week parents should take time to talk with the staff instead of just coming in to drop off and pick up. Developing a connection between parent and caregiver will make it easier for them to inform the parents of things going on with their children, whether it is a certain event that is coming up or if it is a problem with their child. It will help form a relationship where they care about each other as well as about the child (Nakano 79). .
