Jeffery Dahmer

Steadily, and without my knowing it, his fascination with bones would develop into a full-blown adolescent obsession- (Dahmer 76). During this time Dahmer became a raging alcoholic, he didn't have any friends, so instead he turned to the bottle. "He would get completely drunk some nights and come home and pretend nothing had happened, but we all knew he was drunk- (Dahmer 54). When some of his high school classmates were talked to about his behavior, they had odd things to say about the boy. One student said that he never paid attention in class, and he sometimes bleated like a sheep out of the blue, and faked seizures in the hallway for attention. After doing this for several years, every time something weird would happen at Jeffrey's school, his fellow students would call it "doing a Dahmer- (Bauman 218).
Around the time of Dahmers 18th birthday, his parents who had been having marrage problems for years finally called it quits and got a divorce, which threw Dahmer farther into a depression he could not crawl out of (Dahmer 60). After graduation, Dahmer went to college for awhile, but he was kicked out because of failing grades and his alcoholism, so he left school and attempted several jobs, all of which he was eventually fired from. After several lost jobs, Jeffery finally went into the army because he badly wanted to make his father proud. However, Dahmers drinking lead to bizarre behavior in the army including several attacks on fellow soldiers (AP Dahmer). One of Dahmers roommates stated, "I knew that he would hurt me if he could get a hold of me when he was drunk. He would run after you like a wild man, like a crazy nut- (AP Dahmer). Because of his bizarre behavior and drinking, in March of 1981, Jeffery was discharged from the military. At this time he moved back to Miami Beach and started searching for more jobs (Bauman 221).
After several more attempted jobs, Dahmer moved in with his grandmother and got a job at the Ambrosia Chocolate Co (Bauman 223).
