The advertisement industry tries to persuade people into buying their product by creating good impressions. One company that is big in the advertisement industry is the tobacco company. They make their advertisements glamorous and cool looking to catch the eye of the consumer. Advertisement companies know how people want to look and feel. They may use a famous star from Hollywood or a picture perfect model to help sell their product. They also make their ads look edgier and hipper to attract more people (Kwiatkowski 1). Advertisement of cigarettes can be found in many women's magazines. There will often be an ad for cigarettes right next to an article on how to lose weight (Edison 1). The advertising and marketing industries strategically place their ads in certain places to try to get more consumers to buy their .
             product. Although you may not notice it, advertisement can be in places not expected. There is an example of advertising in entertainment in television's "Seinfeld". "Seinfeld ate Junior Mints in one episode and drank Snapple in another" says John Dahlberg, a communication studies professor at Canisius College, who spent 18 years as a professional advertiser. He also goes on to say that the distinction between advertising and television programming is starting to blur. Advertising affects us in our everyday lives if we like it or not.
             Media corporations control the entire flow of delivering information to the public. The largest and best known is Microsoft. Microsoft is creating a new kind of media company called a "technomedia" company. This company will create media and will also control the entire way of delivering it (Caruso 1). Microsoft controls the 24-hour news channel- MSNBC, the largest selling encyclopedia in the world- Encarta, and also Dreamworks studio. Microsoft carries a lot of power in the media world. It controls many of the information outlets to the public. Microsoft is still expanding, and taking the opportunity to be a major part in interactive media.
